Desert Landscape

This painting was made from a photograph I found in a nature magazine. I believe the location of this desert was in the southern United States. I was struck by the intense orange colour of the landscape, along with the somewhat ominous clouds in the sky, looking like they were about to provide water to all the plant life below.
