Crowded Street Corner
About
I made this painting from a photograph I took in Rome. I decided to crop it down, focusing on the people tightly packed on the street corner. I loved the different cast of characters, trying to capture their gestures and facial expressions. Most of the people were on their own, seemingly unaware of others around them. A few seemed to be engaged in some form of interaction. As is usually the case, I found myself wondering about what they were thinking, where they were going, and what kind of emotional state they were in. I also liked all the different textures from the faces, clothes, and large stones in the building.
